We know, we know – “pi” & “pie” are simply homophones and next year’s 3.14.15 would technically be a more accurate date for celebrating π. Still, pretty sure you’ll be quite happy slicing into this family circle. Get it? Passed down recipe…pies are round…pi is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter…

We’ll stop now.

ingredients
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 6 eggs
  • ½ cup flour
  • 3½ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
instructions
  1. Mix butter and eggs.
  2. Add combined dry ingredients.
  3. Add buttermilk and vanilla.
  4. Pour into store-bought or homemade uncooked pie shell.
  5. Bake for 45 minutes at 325°.
